Work has been chaos for the last few months, so finding time to get into this has been difficult, but in the meantime I have been gathering the pieces I’ll need and getting myself ready to get to work.
First things first was a new bust. Because trying to make a dress (particularily one that’s going to be basically a wedding gown) without one was going to be too difficult. I found this sizeable one on Amazon and was thrilled. Especially since right now I’m working to lose weight so I can adjust the form as I progress through the project (before I start the actual dress, of course, once I start the dress, that’ll be the size (with maybe the option to take it in a bit).
The form itself was super easy to work with (it’s pretty much pre-assembled) and I was able to easily adjust the size using my measurements.
Next acquisition was basically a bedazzler. I picked up a hotfix tool and some flat back hotfix rhinestones. Of course I got them too small so I have to go back and get bigger ones, but it was good to try and see what I was trying to do. And it allowed me to fiddle around with it. I’m not convinced I won’t use the smaller ones, but I might play around with a variety of sizes to get the overall look I’m looking for.
Which don’t ask me what that is…
Now it was time to draw some circles and lay out some stones. I’m not convinced on anything yet so I’ve begun playing with different sizes to see what I get. Of course, this is a learning process, and I don’t really have to kick it into high gear until June’ish. With any luck I’ll be down another size by then and have figured out how I want to do this exactly.
None of this is perfect, but it’s a slow progress as if I make this dress I want to make it right – so I can feel proud of it.
