A little family break

So we took the kids to the fair on Saturday which was a nice little break for Ben and I. We both have been working hunched over machines as we try to prepare for the convention. Of course his preparations are for the reason we are there, mine is just because I’ve always wanted to cosplay – and since my son wants to do the Super Mario theme for Halloween I’m trying to finish the princess peach dress in time to wear it to the convention. If I can wear it.

About two years ago I decided I wanted to lose weight and I did, sixty pounds but like I always do I stopped trying, and gave up and have put the majority of that weight back on. Add in peri-menopause and it feels like my efforts to get back on track are just not going anywhere.

But I digress. We went to the fair. This was Damian’s second time going to the fair and Liam’s first. Damian loved all the rides – right up until he had lunch then they weren’t as much fun. Liam was great up until Lunch again when he desperately needed a nap. He’s at that age where no nap and he’s a little ‘turd’ until bedtime and add a nap and he’s up till 10pm. So damn’d if I do. Damn’d if I don’t.

We knew this might be the case so we left the house early and arrived before the rides had even started. Having the kids with us turned out to be a huge win for the park as we were parked right up front with them and had a short little walk to the fairgrounds with the boys. Liam’s eyes lit up as we walked around, both kids wanting everything and touching everything – by no surprise Damian is now sick…

We headed up the Ferris wheel and had a Birds Eye view of the park – it’s a small fair you can walk the entire grounds in about fifteen minutes but it was perfect for the boys. Damian tried every ride at the park, his favourite being the spaceship that too this day I can’t ride on, and Liam’s being the teacups – until mommy spun them too fast.

We had lunch and then hit the midway where they boys won their snakes with big smiles on their faces. After the fair we came home and Liam laid down with Nana while I took Damian off into the pool. We swam for a couple hours and by no surprise both boys were passed out by 8pm.

It was a nice break but I’ll have to get back to work, still lots to do.
